The Samsung Galaxy S24 Series is set to launch on January 17, promising to be a significant upgrade from the existing models in the flagship Galaxy line-up, thanks to the addition of AI technology. But that’s not the only new feature. According to a report by Android Headlines, Samsung may provide unprecedented software support for the new Galaxy flagships, extending it for up to seven years. It is unclear whether this support includes only security patches or full Android and One UI updates, but the latter could be a significant shift in the Android ecosystem, prompting other smartphone manufacturers to follow suit.

This move comes after Google announced in October that it would offer seven years of software and security updates for the Pixel 8 series. At the time, Samsung hinted at extending security updates for its devices but remained silent on Android and One UI updates.

The question now is whether Samsung’s previous flagships, such as the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 5/Z Flip 5, will also benefit from this extended software support. Samsung may include its 2023 flagships in this initiative, following a similar pattern to when it extended the number of Android and One UI upgrades from three to four for the Galaxy S21.

Free AI Features
According to a report by Android Headlines, Samsung plans to provide the Galaxy AI features for free until at least 2025. However, there are some speculations that some of these features may only be accessible through payment from 2026 onwards. If this turns out to be true, it could set a precedent for the industry, despite the fact that brands like Google currently offer a complete set of AI features on the Pixel 8 series for free.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event
The Unpacked event is scheduled for January 17th. Galaxy S24 leaks have been circulating since last year, revealing various details about the new flagship devices, including the materials used and the AI-powered camera features. Samsung is currently offering users the option to pre-reserve the Galaxy S24 before it’s officially unveiled. The ‘Next Galaxy VIPPASS’ can be purchased for Rs 1,999 and comes with benefits worth Rs 5,000 or more for those who pre-reserve the device.
